Fiore Mortuus
Fiore Mortuus is one of a series of biomorphic assemblages inspired by the coneflower bud’s Fibonacci spiral. It is composed of burned, painted and drilled various found objects. I am ultimately concerned with expressing the cyclical nature of life and decay, and its relationship to urban life, which is evident as Detroit devolves back to its preindustrial origins.
Like Charles Baudelaire's Fleur du Mal poems, it is a response to the sense that while our planet is spinning off its axis, it still resonates with the sublime.
