Vrikshasana
Carved and charred found wood with paint
24x10x10
The title Vrikshasana refers to the yoga Tree Pose. The intention of my meditation totem series is in alignment with the yoga philosophy, in the sense that both promote equilibrium and balance in one’s life.
Vrikshasana began as a half-burned stump I found in my fire pit. The burnt areas left graceful forms that inspired me to explore further. My initial goal was to drill as many holes into the trunk as possible in order to let as much light into the thick wood. (See detail)
